UTP Masters

The UTP Masters will run during September as the climax to the 2016 Ulster junior tournament season.

As last year, the Masters will be run on a single day in a "Superset" format for the top 8 qualifiers in each age group, and there will also be the opportunity for players to qualify for the Ulster Masters teams which will travel on a tennis trip during October. Last year's trips were a great success -

The current standings in the Masters Race points table can be found here.

Larne Grammar School Organise Trip to Wimbledon 2016

Info on Larne Grammar Trip to Wimbledon 30th June/1st July 2016

This will be the third trip we have run to Wimbledon and the popularity has grown each year – 14 first year, 24 second and this year a total of 53 pupils and 7 staff will attend the championships on Thursday 30th June.  Quite a young trip in terms of average ages with all the pupils 15 or under – good for building interest in tennis and the trip in the future.  We look at tennis as very much a healthy activity for all and are therefore seeing big numbers play but not to a particularly high standard as I said.

Booked through the tour company who take care of everything once you arrive at the airport – therefore we have booked ourselves to fly into Southampton which being south west of SW19 and roughly equal travel time from the north London airports is also a cheaper flight than the south London airports.

Trip provides tickets for court 2 and ground passes as the coach bring you straight into the grounds meaning there is no public transport element.  We also have a dedicated tour host for the duration of our stay.

Following a full day at the Championships on Thursday it is a hotel stay in London (Heston Hyde Hotel in Hounslow) with the next day taken up with a coach tour of London and an afternoon excursion of choice from the huge variety that London has to offer.  We are going to go to the Olympic Park at Stratford and adjacent Westfield Shopping Centre.

Return to Southampton airport on the Friday night for return back to Belfast by 9.30pm.

All participants really looking forward to it and we cannot wait to see and experience the tournament atmosphere etc. as it has always proven to be an exceptional experience!
