Mark Pollock "Run the Dark" Wednesday 11th November

Mark Pollock was the guest speaker on Sunday 25th October in front of  the Ulster Tennis Performance Academy members, siblings and parents.

Now it is time to give back. Mark's Run In The Dark is on Wednesday 11th November and I want ALL of us to do it. No excuses.  It costs around £20 per person and funds the robotic legs and research Mark is doing. Mark gets a large sum for the talks he delivers all over the world but he wouldn't accept a penny for his talk to us.

So sign up today with your family or friends and lets all wear a tennis t-shirt and show our support for this great man and cause. I am the MC at the event and I will also commentate and give everyone a shout out as you run/walk/crawl by.

Do it now. Belfast - Run in the Dark   www.runinthedark.org

ITF World Championships 2015- Mark Magrath Report

ITF World Championships 2015- Mark Magrath Report I was honoured to have been chosen to represent Ireland in the Young Seniors Team World Championships, where 35 countries in three age groups got the chance to compete in Antalya, Turkey. I was looking forward to going and playing Tennis for my country, however the experience exceeded all expectations. The Alibey resort where the event was held, was fantastic. It was situated on the coast, having 55 clay courts and everything else we could need from Restaurants, Turkish Baths, gymnasium, physio, pools, shops and the inevitable ‘Irish Bar’. It was an absolutely superb venue to play tennis. Having so many clay courts on site meant that all the teams played at the same venue, which allowed us the opportunity to watch other teams play, as well as supporting Ireland. This really added to the overall atmosphere of the event. The standard of Tennis played by team members from all countries was extremely high and I believe the Irish team did themselves proud. It was really enjoyable to play against Tennis players from different countries and backgrounds and to represent my country in a team environment. All the members of the Irish team made me feel very welcome, particularly as it was the first time I had met some of them. There was a great team atmosphere throughout the entire Championships. It was fantastic to experience international matches and despite being a bit nervous in my first match and serving three double faults, my performance improved as the week went on, losing a tight singles against Russia, winning a singles match against Bulgaria and ending the week in a 3.5 hour marathon loss to Canada. My body has just about recovered! I can safely say I now have the bug. The whole event gave me a real buzz and I can’t wait to represent Ireland again.
