Clubmark Coleraine

Ulster Tennis Clubmark is a Club Development Programme, endorsed by Sport NI, which supports the development of, and delivers a quality standard for, Junior Tennis Clubs.

The programme allows parents, carers and participants to identify Tennis Clubs that have achieved a minimum standard of quality in the areas of club management, coaching and competition, safety and equity.  It also means that the Club benefits as it can provide a quality sporting experience, which is open to all and delivered in a safe environment, by an effectively managed Tennis Committee.

Penny Loan, Club Chairperson and Clubmark Leader said,

 ‘The Clubmark has given us a real insight into how our Tennis Club functions.  It is a great way to encourage all Committee members to be proactive and keep processes and procedures transparent and up to date to the benefit Club members.

Experienced Club Committee member, Eileen Andrews, outlined how she believes the Coleraine Club will now benefit from Clubmark;

Coleraine Tennis Club can now give parents bringing their children to the club the assurance that it is a quality club and fulfils all of its requirements.  I believe that this will encourage both new junior and adult players to join as members and help our Club grow.  We feel privileged to be one of the thirteen Tennis Clubs in Ulster to achieve this accolade.”

Lauren Smythe, UBTI Development Manager, said,

Congratulations to Coleraine Tennis Club on their Clubmark success.  Since registering for Clubmark the Coleraine Club have applied for funding from Parks Tennis NI and have delivered a successful programme to outreach into the community. This, along with the Open Days organised to coincide with the French Open, have encouraged new players to try tennis and has resulted in the Club increasing their membership in the year.  The Club coaching programme is fully aligned to the Tennis Ireland ‘Play & Stay’ initiative, including the use of modified balls, racquets and courts in all sessions, and welcomes those with disabilities.”

Ulster Tennis would like to congratulate the Club and wish Coleraine Tennis Club continued success throughout 2016, and beyond.
