Tennis Ireland New 4-Year Strategy

Calling all Tennis Fans


Whether you are a beginner, a Club Player, an international, a parent or support our game as a coach, administrator or as a volunteer, we are looking for your help 

Tennis Ireland is building a 4 year strategy that will meet the needs of existing players at all levels in reaching their potential, and building the profile of tennis in Ireland so we can attract others to participate and enjoy our game. The plan will provide a roadmap that will help Clubs, Coaches, Provinces and our Performance Players, whilst allowing us to partner successfully with others supporting the game such as, but not limited to, the Dublin Lawn Tennis Council and the Parks Tennis Organisation.

 How can you get involved?

We have put together a steering team, representative of every aspect of the sport, for the project who have designed a consultation framework that allows people to get involved in several ways:

Firstly, we have scheduled a series of workshops around the country to meet and gather the ideas and aspirations of people who are involved in tennis at all levels, these meetings will be facilitated by Pinta Consulting, will capture the best ideas as to how we can grow and improve the experience of tennis at all levels. The meetings will be two hours in duration and are designed so that we can listen to all the diverse voices of tennis. The schedule and location of these meetings are as follows:

MY POINT; The Plan for Tennis in Ireland which will be launched on September 25th and will run for 4 weeks. This survey, which will be sent to you and will be available via the Tennis Ireland website and will only take 15 minutes to complete and will give you the opportunity to outline what matters most for you and this in turn will help us to shape the future of tennis in Ireland.

UTP Masters Superset

The UTP Masters Superset event will take place on SUNDAY 17th September - details on the tournament site.

Players to register at 9:45am at each venue.


Each age group will be played at a specific venue:

 Under 14 Boys and Girls  Bangor
 Under 16 Boys and Girls  Belfast Boat Club
 Under 18 Boys and Girls           Belfast Boat Club


Recognised tennis attire and appropriate shoes must be worn. Tracksuit bottoms, leggings and ball shorts without skirts ARE NOT permitted. 


All matches are one set with a tie-break at 5 games all.
For age groups with more than 6 players, the two group winners will play off in the final (no semi-finals)

33rd Irish National Close Seniors (Veterans) Championships

Munster Branch would  like to remind you that entries are now being accepted for the 33rd Irish National Close SENIORS (Veterans) Championships. This event is being held for the very first time since its inception in the sunny south east at St. Anne’s Tennis Club in Waterford City on  29th, 30th September, 1st October 2017. Ulster Junior Hardcourt Championships @ Windsor starts Sunday

There will be NO PLAY in the Ulster Junior Hardcourt Championships tomorrow Saturday 10th August. Play will start on Sunday morning. The schedule for Sunday will be published later on Friday.


Mary Peters Trust Funding October 2017

The Mary Peters Trust Applications are now open online.
There is a section on the application relating to the governing body and once you have completed your section the application is then sent to Ulster Tennis to complete.
Please complete the online application before Friday 8th September to allow Ulster Tennis to review and complete the Governing Body section before the closing date the following week.

Register for Tennis Leaders Course at Wallace Park

Register for the Tennis Leaders Course on Friday 29th September 2017 at Wallace Park

The Tennis Leaders course will take place at Wallace Park on Friday 29th September at 10am to 2pm and costs £35.  The course will help participants understand how to introduce appropriate programmes of organised play and competition that can be delivered to all participants in clubs, parks and schools regardless of age or ability.

The course is aimed at Students, Club Officials, Teachers, Parks Leaders /Assistants & Coaches who want to top up their knowledge.

The schedule of matches for MONDAY 14th August in the Wilson Nesbitt Solicitors Junior Championships 2017 can be found here.

Note that the tournament software website will be offline on Monday for essential maintenanace by the software supplier so it may not be possible to access the tournament site for the Bangor tournament.
