Downshire Tennis Club Win £2k Club of the Year Competition 2017 and Enniskillen are £1k Runners-Up

"Congratulations to Downshire Tennis Club who are the winners of a £2k prize in the Ulster Tennis Club of the Year Competition 2017 by achieving 71 points.  Enniskillen Lawn Tennis Club were runners-up with a commendable score of 65 points and received a £1k prize.


Downshire Tennis Club excelled in all aspects of Club Development, particularly in the areas of recently refreshing, broadening and strengthening leadership & structure and in enhancing their Club programme.  The Club achieved an increase in membership and their varied Club programme includes outreach through 10 weeks free coaching linked to local Schools, a number of Club Open Days linked to Wimbledon and the annual Oyster Festival and a Miss Hits Tennis Fit tennis programme for females.


Runners-up, Enniskillen,  who have adopted the Ulster Tennis 1 page Club Development Plan as part of Clubmark, achieved an increase in membership this year of almost 40%.  The Club have implemented a successful Schools Tennis outreach programme and have developed a Club Performance Academy linked to the UBTI Talent ID & Player pathway.
